Saxophone

Learning the basics, some famous songs, and other lessons

Here are a couple interesting facts about the saxophone:

My Saxophone

I play the Alto Saxophone. You can find the picture below.

My saxophone

It is a Bundy saxophone, manufactured by the Selmer company. I did some research a few years back, and found that it could be anywhere from forty to one hundred years old, which is a lot for an instrument! When we got it, most of the pads had to be replaced since they were not working very well.Pads are an essential part of the saxophone, since they make sure the key is pressed down and keep air from getting out, which can change the note to something you don't want.

This saxophone technically isn't mine. A couple years ago, I was deciding what instrument to play, and I picked the saxophone. We didn't want to buy a new one, because a good beginner saxophone can be a lot of money. I borrowed this one from my uncle, thinking that I would eventually find one somewhere, but that never happened, so four years later I am still using it!

The story of "the basement saxophone"

About a year ago, my mom texted me randomly saying that she found a saxophone for sale at a rummage store. My dad and I drove over there after school to check it out, and I thought that it was in pretty good condition. We bought it, and later took it to a repair shop for them to assess its condition. I thought that it would work out and that I could finally give my saxophone back to my uncle, but the people the store said that it would cost a lot of money to fix, and that even then it wasn't a very good model. Now, it lives in the basement, and my uncle wants to make a lamp out of it. (The end!)
